Celebrate the Halloween season at Utah's Hogle Zoo with events for families and adults
The annual “BooLights” experience is back at the zoo this year. Guests are invited to the park after dark, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., to explore Halloween displays and interactive entertainment while the animals slumber. Attendees can look forward to Dr Frankenstein’s Mad Lab, a Wild Witches Enchanted Encounter, and the Mountain Screamer Wild Utah walkthrough.
If you or your child has sensory needs, Thursday, Oct. 23 will be the BooLights Neurodiversity Night. This evening will feature adjustments to sound, flashing lights, and programming to create a sensory-friendly experience for guests. Free sensory kits will be available for guests with “low vision or neurodiverse sensitivities.”
BooLights is open on select nights in October. Check out the calendar to see when you can plan your visit.
Another family-friendly experience that Utah’s Hogle Zoo is hosting is Boo at the Zoo. On Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., don your Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat while exploring and learning more about the animals at the zoo.
For the adults who want to celebrate Halloween with the wildlife, Utah’s Hogle Zoo has two 21+ events.
Lions, Steins and Roaring Good Times is the zoo’s first adults-only fundraiser and will benefit the Niassa Carnivore Project. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Guests can look forward to watching lion enrichment, a zookeeper chat, an African drum performance, and an exclusive animal experience auction.
The co-founder and managing director of the Niassa Carnivore Project, Dr. Colleen Begg, will also be speaking at the event. The Niassa Carnivore Project is based in Mozambique and focuses on African lion conservation. For more information or to buy tickets, visit the zoo’s website.
For the final ZooBrew of the season, Utah’s Hogle Zoo is putting on BrewLights, another 21+ experience. BrewLights will be on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and come to the park to enjoy drinks, food, and plenty of educational experiences.
Purchase tickets for ZooBrew and find out more about this month’s experience on the zoo’s event webpage.
