Blue Island man accused of battering multiple women, police officer

CHICAGO — A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly battering multiple women and a police officer in Evanston.

Derek Rucker, 37, of Blue Island, was taken into custody Thursday just before 11:10 a.m. in the 0-100 block of East Grand Avenue.

He allegedly struck a 44-year-old woman in the face, which caused her to fall to the ground, in the 500 block of North State less than an hour earlier.

He was charged in connection to four other alleged batteries; three against women and one against a police officer in Evanston.

A timeline of the other incidents is below, per Chicago police.

• Oct. 8 in the 4600 block of North Broadway. Allegedly battered a 40-year-old woman.
• Sept. 30 in the 1200 block of West Loyola. Allegedly battered a 23-year-old woman.
• Sept. 30 in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue. Allegedly battered an on-duty police officer.
• Sept. 21 in the 900 block of West Belmont. Allegedly battered a 27-year-old woman.
