Baxter County Sheriff’s Office to hold firearms qualification for retired officers

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office will host a firearms qualification shoot for retired law enforcement officers on Friday, October 24, 2025, starting at 8:30 that morning. The event will take place at the new Sheriff’s firing range at the old Baxter County Quarry on CR 69 off Hwy 5 South. Signs will mark the entrance.
The cost is $10, payable in advance. Participants must bring their own firearm and ammunition (with certain restrictions). Retired officers must register in advance at the Sheriff’s Office, completing a written application and signing a liability waiver.

The course, developed by certified firearms instructors, will issue an official Sheriff’s Office qualification card to those who successfully complete it. Note that the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards will not issue cards for this course.

Range rules and limitations apply. For more information, call the Sheriff’s Office at (870) 425-7000.
