‘A Beacon of Hope’: Nik’s Wish unveils new lamp for young adults fighting cancer
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Nik’s Wish celebrated a significant milestone today with the grand unveiling of their new “Nik’s Wish Lamp.”

The lamp accompanies the non-profit organization every time they grant a wish to a young adult battling cancer. The unveiling marks a new chapter for the organization, as the previous lamp had fallen into disrepair.

“I am just giddy. I mean, it is amazing what it looks like. It’s everything we asked for and even more,” said founder Kelli Ritschel Boehle. “My heart is just overwhelmed with joy because all of these teams leaned in and donated their time and talents to actually build something that is amazing. An amazing lamp, and a beacon of hope.”

The Northwest Illinois Building Trades Association played a crucial role in the celebration by constructing the new lamp. Their efforts ensured that the lamp could continue to serve as a symbol of hope and support for young adults facing cancer.

The celebration comes just a day before the annual “Nik’s Home Run” 7-K run, an event that supports the organization’s mission. Registration for the run is still open.
