Xbox’s 1TB Expansion Card Has Dropped to $110 at Amazon, Its Lowest Price Ever

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days may have been and gone (for a few months at least), but the retailer still has a deal that would’ve fit right into our best Xbox deals.

Amazon has discounted the WD_Black 1TB storage expansion card for Xbox Series S and Series X consoles by 20% down to $119.99 from its $149.99 MSRP, but you can also apply a $10 coupon to bring it down to $109.99.

Save On Xbox Storage At Amazon

That’s not all. If you want a massive 2TB storage upgrade for your console, you can get around $20 off (now $199.99), or 512GB for $85.99.

So, why not just plug in any old hard drive you have lying around? In short, those won’t be fast enough for your Xbox console and its ‘velocity architecture’, so you’ll need to move Series X and Series S games to your internal drive to be able to play them.

Having additional storage, like the ones from these cards, lets you play games from them as if they were your console’s internal storage.

It’s a little different to how PlayStation does it. Sony lets you use ‘off the shelf’ M.2 drives, but you do need to open your console up to be able to install them, whereas Microsoft went the proprietary route so you can satisfyingly slot an expansion card into your system.

Microsoft recently hiked the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate by 50% and removed DLC discount offerings, before revealing a wave of games coming to the service this month – including Ninja Gaiden 4 and Double Fine’s Keeper.

Still, if you’re keeping your subscription, this is a decent way to add to your storage.
