ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — Rockville police said a driver was issued several citations after they struck a woman who was in the crosswalk on Wednesday afternoon.

Details remain limited; however, around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 8, Rockville City police officers were called to the Redland Boulevard at Elmcroft Boulevard area after a person was struck by a vehicle.

Their preliminary investigation noted that a woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit by a commercial vehicle.

She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

“The driver of the commercial vehicle was determined to be at fault and was issued several citations at the scene,” Rockville police told DC News Now.

Montgomery County police added that the crash forced Redland Boulevard between Pleasant Drive to shut down in both directions on Wednesday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
