John Mateer began the year on fire in his first year in Norman but suffered a broken bone in his throwing hand September 20. He had surgery just over two weeks ago.
The Southeastern Conference teams release an official injury report Wednesday evening every week and Mateer is listed as “questionable” by the Sooners. The Washington State transfer would be playing against Texas for the first time, should he able to suit up.
Mateer missed Oklahoma’s last game against Kent State, while backup Michael Hawkins got the start. Hawkins started last year against the Longhorns in a 34-3 Texas victory.
The Longhorns and Sooners kick off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Texas Gameday is the official pregame show of Texas football and airs at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on KBVO.
