The victim is one of two people the suspect attacked at Valley Transportation Authority stations last month, authorities say. The suspect, 23-year-old Brandon Fryshaw was arrested for attempted murder following an attack at the Gish Road station shortly before midnight on Sept. 29.
“When [authorities] arrived, they found a 42-year-old man who had been severely beaten and was suffering from significant head injuries,” the sheriff’s office said. “Emergency medical services rushed him to a nearby hospital.”
The victim remained hospitalized for critical head trauma until he died of his injuries shortly after 11 p.m. on Oct. 8. The victim was a resident of San Jose. Authorities have not released his identity to the public at this time.
Fryshaw is also suspected of attacking another person at the Saint James VTA Light Rail Station in San Jose. The sheriff’s office has referred the case to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
