(KTAL/KMSS) – Christmas has a lot of classical hits when it comes to music going back to numerous generations, but have you ever thought about what do you have on your playlist for Spooky season?
According to Billboard, five out of twenty-five songs were charted for October 2024, including some of the top Halloween spooky-themed songs (their biggest Halloween songs), as the most played for spooky season.
5. “VAMPIRE” by Olivia Rodrigo
This song was released on June 30, 2023, and was the lead single on her album titled GUTS. The song debuted at number one on the Billboard HOT 100, making it Rodrigo’s third number one single. The song is widely interpreted as a breakup anthem about someone who drained her emotionally, using the “vampire” metaphor to describe a toxic, manipulative ex. This is a good song to play if you are breaking up with someone during spooky season.

4. “( You’re the ) Devil in Disguise” by Elvis Presley with the Jordanaires
“Devil in Disguise ” was released on June 17, 1963. This song tells a story of someone who seems angelic and sweet but turns out to be deceitful, like a devil in disguise. Elvis performed it on the Ed Sullivan show, helping the single gain massive popularity. It reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S, and it hit number 1 on the UK singles chart. It remains one of Elvis’s best-loved 1960s singles.

3. “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr.
Who you gonna call? This song was released on May 26, 1984, as part of the cult classic film The Ghostbusters movie soundtrack. This catchy theme hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for weeks in the summer of 1984. The song was nominated for an Academy Award for best original song. It remains one of the most beloved and instantly recognizable Halloween songs.

They created a 14-minute short film for the song, which featured numerous dance numbers that people still imitate to this day. Thriller is a Halloween staple often topping seasonal charts and inspiring countless costumes, flash mobs, and dance tributes worldwide.
