According to officials from the Crystal Lake Police Department, the investigation began around 6 p.m. on Wednesday after officers were called to the 300 block of Pathway Court on a report of a robbery.
Once on scene, police said the victim, a 50-year-old man, told officers that the robbery had happened in a different area about 45 minutes before he called 911.
The victim informed officers that he had been riding his bicycle when two unknown adult male suspects approached him and demanded it from him.
After the victim refused to give up his bike, officers said one of the suspects pulled out a knife, causing the victim to flee the scene on foot.
The victim told officers that there was a delay in the report as he did not have his cell phone on him at the time of the robbery.
No injuries were reported, but officers are now searching for the two perpetrators.
According to police, one of the men is believed to be a white male in his 30s with short curly blond hair, who stands around 5-foot-11 and weighs between 135 and 140 pounds.
He was last spotted wearing a long-sleeve Nike brand athletic shirt and blue jeans.
The second suspect is believed to be a Hispanic male in his 30s with black hair who stands 5-foot-4 and weighs around 120 pounds.
He was last spotted wearing a gray hoodie-style sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The missing bicycle was described as a red mountain bike with an estimated value of around $200.
