The House Insurance Committee passed a measure, along party lines, that would require insurance companies to cover the full cost of any FDA approved vaccine. It now heads to the House for full consideration.
Rep. Tarik Khan (D-Philadelphia) is a co-sponsor of the bill, known as House Bill 1828, and a registered nurse. He said Washington is putting politics over science.
“I think the average person that went into the election booth in November, they didn’t vote to have the federal government take away their health care,” Khan said. “People voted and they expected that their health care would be protected. Unfortunately, we’ve seen that Washington start taking away access to health care.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommends people talk with their doctor before getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
