LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — After being released from prison a week ago, the man connected with the stabbing death of a Kentucky child has been rearrested in Florida.

Ronald Exantus, the man who was found not guilty by reason of insanity in connection with the death of 6-year-old Logan Tipton in his Versailles home, is now in custody in Florida.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said Exantus was booked into the Marion County Jail after a warrant was issued for failure to register as a convicted felon.

“My office has been working with State Attorney Gladson’s office in Marion County since we were alerted that this dangerous individual, who murdered a child by repeatedly stabbing him in the head, was in Florida,” Uthmeier said on X.

State officials are now working to return him to Kentucky.

” I want to thank Sheriff Woods and State Attorney Gladson for keeping our communities safe from this dangerous felon,” Uthmeier said.

In December 2015, Exantus broke into a Versailles family’s home, stabbing 6-year-old Logan Tipton and attacking his father and sisters.

A jury later found Exantus not guilty by reason of insanity for murder, but guilty of assault, and mentally ill.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2018, but was released early after receiving good behavior and education credits.
