Here’s how to know when to euthanize your pets

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Kansas State Veterinarian Dr. Susan Nelson discusses when it may be time to say goodbye to a beloved pet.

It’s important to monitor your pet’s health and habits. If you see something unusual or concerning from your pet, take it to a local vet as soon as possible. If the condition of your pet doesn’t improve with professional medical help, it may be time to consider euthanizing.

“It will make you sad but as the time does approach it will make it easier and you will know what decisions that you want to make,” said Nelson. “The best thing I can do is advocate and confirm that decision that that was the best thing for their pet, and I only say that when I truly believe that.”

Although it may be a sad decision to make, putting your pet to sleep might be your best choice if your pet’s health is not improving.
