Central Texas cities ranked high in ‘best small cities’ in America, study shows

AUSTIN (KXAN) — While Texas is known for its city skylines, its diverse landscapes ranging from the Hill Country to the Panhandle compliment the small town charm sprinkled across the state.

WalletHub, a personal finance company, recently released its 2025 Best Small Cities in America, and two Central Texas cities were ranked in the top 90th and higher percentile. Several other Texas cities were also mentioned.

So which Texas cities are you missing out on? We picked the top 10 cities within the 80-99th percentile.

To rank these cities, the study compared 1,138 cities with population sizes between 25,000 to 100,000. WalletHub based its rankings on affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life and safety.
