Capitol police officer crashes during chase in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Capitol police officer was involved in a crash during a chase in Jackson.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a stolen Ford Escape in the area of East Northside Drive and Office Park Drive around 8:45 p.m. on October 8, 2025. She said the suspect failed to yield and led officers on a chase.

During the chase, Martin said a Capitol police officer was involved in a single car accident near Lampton Avenue and Eminence Row. The officer was not injured.

After a brief chase, Martin said the suspect exited the vehicle and fled in the area of Avenue J and Main Street. No arrest has been made.
