California company recalls over 240,000 pounds of pasta tied to listeria outbreak

A California company has recalled nearly 245,000 pounds of pre-cooked pasta linked to a deadly listeria outbreak and potential contamination of dozens of products sold at grocery stores nationwide.

Nate’s Fine Foods of Roseville has recalled thousands of cases of linguine, fettuccine, penne, and other pastas distributed to large producers of heat-and-eat meals and pasta salads, according to a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted Thursday.

The Sept. 25 recall followed test results showing that pasta made by the Roseville-based company contained the same strain of Listeria monocytogenes found in chicken fettuccine Alfredo and meatball linguine products, according to the Associated Press.

These products are tied to an outbreak that has killed four people and sickened 20 others since August 2024, according to the CDC.

Several grocery chains have pulled products made with Nate’s Fine Foods pasta. Consumers are urged not to eat the recalled foods and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
