'The power of his presence melted hearts': President Oaks, family remember late LDS Prophet, Russell M. Nelson
“His writings and his influence and his example live on. And so does our grief at his passing,” Dallin H. Oaks, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said. He added that President Nelson’s life “bore witness of his committed testimony as a prophet and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
President Nelson passed away in his Salt Lake City home on Sept. 27 at the age of 101. He was both the oldest president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the oldest leader of a faith organization in the world. He served as president since January 14, 2018.
Nelson was first called as an Apostle on April 7, 1984. In his time leading the church, he visited 32 countries and U.S. territories and announced the construction of 200 new temples.
