The HSU shared that they will be without water from Saturday night until Monday morning as Murray City performs emergency maintenance on a water main. As a result, short-term foster homes are needed for the pets.
Those interested can pick up a fuzzy friend on Friday or Saturday at HSU, then bring them back on Monday morning.
HSU said that they will provide all of the supplies needed— food, treats, cozy blankets, toys, and more— to make the sleepover a blast.
Those interested in being an emergency slumber party host are asked to submit an application.
Additionally, HSU shared that all of their Pet Resource Center departments will be closed to the public on Sunday.
The HSU emphasized the importance of fostering pets, stating that it helps provide care and support to vulnerable animals. While in the home, the animal will learn how to bond with people, receive care, and stay away from the stress of the shelter.
“Fostering is an important step on a pet’s journey. A home environment is best for their health and well-being. Fostering cats and dogs allows them to thrive in a home environment and practice forming bonds with their caregivers. For pets who have been waiting longer for adoption, foster caregivers can help reassure adopters that these pets are a good fit for a home and speak to the type of home or family that would be the best match for the pet,” reported Maddie’s Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare.
