Have an unused Iron Hill gift card? Here’s what you should do after its bankruptcy filing

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Attorney General Dave Sunday is now offering guidance to customers of Iron Hill Brewery after the company closed all of its locations and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

On September 25, Iron Hill Brewery announced via a Facebook post that it had made the difficult decision to close its doors at all locations across Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Georgia.

The closure was announced with little notice for customers and employees alike.

Earlier today, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday responded to the abrupt closure and is now advising consumers who bought unused gift cards to dispute those purchases with their credit card company.

AG Sunday is also telling consumers to consider filing a complaint with the Bureau of Consumer Protection.

The Office of Attorney General is also monitoring the situation and continues to field consumer complaints regarding unused gift cards and loyalty/rewards program balances.

”The sudden closure of this popular chain of restaurants has left Pennsylvanians with questions and concerns about gift cards and rewards balances,” Attorney General Sunday said. “We will continue to track developments in this matter on behalf of impacted consumers. For the time being, we are advising consumers to seek refunds from their credit card companies regarding gift card purchases.”

Moving forward, consumers who are unable to redeem their Iron Hill Brewery gift cards and rewards may also submit a complaint to the Office of the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection by going online or calling 717-787-3391.
