Washburn has been experiencing a lot of positive momentum lately, both in general and with some record numbers. 27 News talked with Mazachek about fall enrollment.
“This is our third year, third consecutive year of having increases in enrollment every fall semester,” Dr. Mazachek told us. “We’re very excited about that. We grew by about 6% this year.”

“We are the top regional university in the state of Kansas,” Dr. Mazachek said. “And what we’re very, very we’re proud of that. But we’re also proud of the fact that we have the lowest debt. Our students graduate with the lowest debt in the state of Kansas.”
27 News asked her how that ranking makes her feel.
“Very, very proud,” Dr. Mazachek said. “Very proud of the work that our faculty and staff do every day to serve students and to make sure that they have an opportunity to pursue higher education and fulfill their their goals and dreams for their lives.”
