Man found guilty of murdering student after Helena-West Helena school prom
On Oct. 3, Donterious Stephens, 21 was found guilty of First-Degree Murder. He was sentenced to life in prison and 15 years for a firearm enhancement.
Stephens was identified as the suspect in April 20, 2024 for the shooting death of Lorenzo Harrison III, 18, a senior outside of a party after Helena-West Helena’s Central High School prom.
According to Arkansas State Police, Stephens was a graduate of Helena-West Helena’s Central High School.
They said the incident happened across the street from Ater Waterhouse where a gathering took place after the prom.
In 2024, a WREG reporter watched the security camera video, which was not released. It showed a car parked on the lot with several people outside it. Another vehicle pulled onto the lot, a subject exited the vehicle with an assault-style weapon and opened fire.
The suspect vehicle crashed into this ditch while driving away at a high speed.
