IMPD: 3 injured in shooting at CVS store on east side of Indianapolis
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the CVS store located at 4401 E. 10th St. around 6:41 p.m. to investigate a reported disturbance. When police arrived at the scene, they located two female victims who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds inside the CVS.
While police were working at the CVS, they received an additional report that indicated a male victim had walked into Community East Hospital — which is located 1500 N. Ritter Ave. — with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. When police arrived at the hospital, they confirmed that a male shooting victim had, indeed, checked into the facility.
During their investigation, police determined that the male victim they found at Community East Hospital was likely injured in the shooting that occurred at the CVS on East 10th Street.
IMPD has confirmed that all three of the shooting victims are currently in stable condition. Police have not specified how old any of the shooting victims are.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a disturbance that began inside the CVS and later spilled out into the store’s parking lot.
At this point in their investigation of the shooting, police have not arrested or detained any suspects or persons of interest. IMPD indicated that the incident does not pose any ongoing threat to the neighborhood it occurred in.
Police also found a person with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds in the 6100 block of Windsor Drive around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. The Windsor Drive location is situated about three miles from the CVS shooting scene.
IMPD has not reported exactly why its officers were first called to Windsor Drive. Police do not believe the victim they found on Windsor Drive was injured in the CVS shooting, though detectives are still actively investigating both cases.
Detectives have indicated that multiple people witnessed the shooting that happened at the CVS on 10th Street. Police are, however, still encouraging those with information on either of the shootings to contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
“Another senseless act of violence,” IMPD Lieutenant Vincent Stewart said during a media briefing on the shooting. “Any time someone is shot and or killed in our city, obviously, it affects all of us. As we continue to talk about conflict resolution, getting along, things of that nature, we impress upon the public to do that.”
