Greenstein said rates increased to 85% of the applicable Medicare rate. He said the calculation was made based on the March 2024 Region 99 Medicare rates.
“The increase in provider reimbursement rates applies to physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives and physician assistants. Prior to this increase and based on review of professional services provided between July 2022 and June 2023, Louisiana Medicaid reimbursed for professional services at approximately 73% of Medicare reimbursement in the aggregate,” Greenstein said.
According to Gov. Jeff Landry’s office, LDH and Medicaid are credited for improving efficiency, which results in savings for the state.
Landry was originally scheduled to join health leaders for the announcement, but according to Greenstein, the governor was instead at a hospital visiting an Iberville Parish deputy who was injured in a Monday night shooting.
