Capper Foundation receives grant for their therapeutic garden

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A local nonprofit is getting recognition for cultivating a healing outdoor space for people of all abilities.

National Garden Bureau awarded the Capper Foundation $1,500 for their therapeutic garden space. The Capper Trail, a fully accessible garden space designed to foster connection, relaxation and therapeutic engagement for individuals of all abilities, was one of five in the nation awarded this grant after it placed second in a nationwide voting campaign.

The space is fully accessible offering an inclusive outdoor experience.

“There are so many wonderful people here that we serve not only adults but children, that come into these doors every single day and we just get to see their smile and they bring a smile to your face,” said Communication Manager, Sean Zears.

The grant will go toward further development of the Capper Trail including an apple tree and sensory toys.
