Suspect in fatal Barron County apartment dies
On Monday, the Barron County Sheriff’s Office said that the suspect in a deadly shooting in Barron, Wis., has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as 17-year-old Marcus Hinojosa from Almena, Wisconsin. He was at the apartment, and when his 17-year-old pregnant girlfriend, identified as Makayla Sadowski according to a verified GoFundMe, arrived at the apartment around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, Hinojosa shot her.
Makayla Sadowski’s brother, 20-year-old Tyler Sadowski and a neighbor went to check on Makayla, and Hinojosa shot Tyler through the entry door, killing him, the press release says.
First responders showed up minutes later, and a deputy heard a single gunshot from the apartment.
Makayla was seven months pregnant, according to the GoFundMe for the family, and the sheriff’s office says that her baby was born due to her injuries and is doing well at the hospital. Makayla is in stable condition at the hospital, according to her family.
The sheriff’s office said there was a “disturbing” Snapchat involving the shooting, and they are still working with Snapchat to get it removed.
