2 found dead in car parked along roadway in northwest suburbs overnight

MCHENRY CO. Ill. — Authorities are searching for answers after two people were found dead in a vehicle that was sitting in the road in the northwest suburbs late Monday night.

According to officials from the Harvard Police Department, the victims were found in the 700 block of North Division Street, in Harvard just after 11:50 p.m., after an officer spotted a vehicle with its hazard lights activated parked in the northbound lane.

The officers approached the vehicle and found the occupants, a female driver and a male passenger, dead inside the vehicle.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the deaths and authorities have not yet identified either victim.

An investigation into the incident is now underway by the McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team (MIAT).

To accommodate the investigation, police closed North Division Street between Diggins Street (Route 173) and McKinley Street, though all roads reopened by 7:30 a.m.
