1 dies after being pulled from Mississippi River in Wright County

A man has died after being pulled unresponsive from the Mississippi River on Tuesday, according to the Wight County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to a capsized boat around 10:30 a.m. on the Mississippi River near the Xcel Energy plant in Monticello. First responders learned that three people were in the water.

Two of the men were found safe, but the third was found unresponsive in the water. Authorities say he was brought to shore by Xcel Energy staff. Despite first aid, he was pronounced deceased.
