Security costs among other reasons for cancellation of 2025 Greater Columbus Fair

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Greater Columbus Fair has been cancelled for this fall.

The fair is an annual event that takes place in the Columbus Civic Center parking lot.

One of the reasons given by Civic Center Interim Director Kanise Wiggins was cost of security for the event. She said it would have been $75,000 to pay off-duty law enforcement for event security.

On weekend nights, it takes up to 25 off-duty law enforcement officers at $65 an hour.

Another reason given for the cancellation was that the city is looking for a new fair vendor.
