That statistic now includes what was a 5-3 loss for the Phillies on Saturday night after blowing a three-run lead late in the game to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The positive news, however, is the fact that the Phillies will get another chance to even out the series in front of their very loud and very proud home crowd in game two.
“There’s been a lot of series this year where we ended up winning after losing game one, that we just bounce back and won two in a row,” Phillies starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo said. “I think that’s the mentality that we have to take. Obviously, you want to get a win; it’s important to do that at home. I wouldn’t say there’s added pressure or anything. Just go out and play the game the way we know how to play it.”
“It’s a tough, tough loss, but you know, we’ve got to shake it off and come out here Monday and get after it again,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said. “It’s a shorter series, it’s not a seven-game series, and you know we got to put it behind us, these guys are pretty good at that.”
Thomson also confirmed that outfielder Harrison Bader, who left Saturday’s game with a groin injury, could play in game two of the NLDS against the Dodgers.
First pitch is set to take place at 6:08 p.m.
