According to police, on Saturday, October 4th, the Sheriff’s Office conducted an operation at five gas stations throughout the village, and found three out of compliance with local law.
Not in compliance (Violations Found – Alcohol Sold to Minors):
“Selling alcohol to minors is a serious offense that puts our youth and community at risk,” said Sheriff Caruana. “We will continue to work closely with our local partners to ensure that businesses follow the law and help us maintain a safe environment for everyone in Winnebago County.”
“We take citizen concerns about the sale of alcohol to minors very seriously,” said Mayor Steve Johnson, who also serves as Machesney Park’s Liquor Commissioner. “We want to thank the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office- Machesney Park Division and the Illinois Liquor Control Commission for partnering with us on this operation to ensure the safety of our community.”
