
According to a press release from Indiana State Police, at around 10 p.m., the department was contacted by the Louisville airport and the FAA about a possible downed aircraft near the border of Lawrence and Orange counties.
Emergency responders searched through the night in a heavily wooded area. At around 4:00 a.m. the plane, a Lancair fixed wing plane, was found with the pilot still inside; suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Due to the location of the crash, the pilot had to be carried out by stretcher. The FAA will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
