CHICAGO (WGN) — As fall rolls in and the crisp air gives way to crunchy leaves, locals are on the hunt for the most fun and photogenic pumpkin patches in Chicagoland.

Whether you’re after a cozy farm feel, a full-out fall festival or something in the city for convenience, here are some of the area’s highest-rated pumpkin patches.

Location: 1265 West Le Moyne Street, Goose Island in Chicago

Dates: Sept. 18 through Nov. 2

Hours: Monday-Friday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Right in the heart of the city, this fall festival offers more than just pumpkins. There are more than 10,000 pumpkins, a corn maze, axe-throwing, photo ops, food trucks and more.

Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm

Location: 40 West Higgins Road, South Barrington

Dates: Sept. 6 through Oct. 31

Hours: Daily: 9am to 6pm; Halloween: 9am to 3pm

This farm blends classic fall charm with festival features, including hayrides, a corn maze, animals and pumpkin picking.

Bengston’s Farm / Bengston’s Fall Fest

Location: 13341 West 151st Street, Homer Glen

Dates: Sept. 5 through Nov. 2

Hours: Monday-Friday: 11am to 8:30pm; Saturday, Sunday & Columbus Day: 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

A longtime suburban favorite, Bengston’s features over 25 attractions, 14 family-friendly rides, animals, photo ops and more.

They promote “one low price for unlimited rides and access,” and the property is noted for paved walkways that make it easier for strollers and less mobile visitors.

Johansen Farms & Children’s Zoo

Location: 710 West Boughton Road, Bolingbrook

Dates: Sept. 14 through Oct. 31

Hours: Monday-Friday: 9am to 6pm; Saturday & Sunday: 9am to 7pm

For families looking for a quiet but full farm experience, Johansen Farms delivers. With over 25,000 pumpkins, a petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, a corn maze and more, it’s a well-rounded option about 30 to 40 minutes from downtown.

Sonny Acres Farm & Fall Festival

Location: 29W310 North Avenue, West Chicago

Dates: Sept. 20 through Oct. 30

A longtime staple in the western suburbs, Sonny Acres balances festival energy with classic farm ambiance. Expect hayrides, pumpkins, food, a haunted barn, a haunted hayride and more.

Siegel’s Pumpkin Farm

Location: 17250 Weber Road, Lockport

Dates: Sept. 2 through Nov. 2

Hours: Daily: 10am to 6pm

Siegel’s is often cited as one of Illinois’ best pumpkin patches. It is run by a multigenerational farm and its “Pumpkin Fest” includes hayrides out to the fields, a corn maze and family-friendly farm.
