Kotek said “the Department of War has ordered the Texas Adjutant General to deploy 400 Texas National Guard members to ‘Illinois, Oregon, and other locations throughout the United States.'”
This comes just hours after Oregon added California as a complainant to their lawsuit opposing troops deployments to Portland. Early Sunday, Trump ordered California National Guard members deployed to Portland.
Kotek, Attorney General Dan Rayfield and Portland Mayor Dan Wilson held a press conference Sunday afternoon to announce they’ve filed suit again over the California troops and hope to be in court for an emergency hearing on Monday.
“I join Illinois Governor JB Pritzker in his call on Texas Governor Greg Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate,” Kotek said in a statement Sunday night. “I will continue to keep the public apprised. As Governor, I will continue to fight to uphold the rule of law and the right to govern ourselves.”
