Gain Street house fire victim dies days after rescue by Shreveport firefighters

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A resident who was rescued from a house fire on Gain Street in late September has reportedly died of their injuries.

Firefighters responded to the 1700 block of Gain Street at 7:21 a.m. on September 28, 2025, for a reported fire with possible victims inside. SFD reported smoke and flames coming from the home, and bystanders indicated that someone was still inside.

Engine Six crew member under the direction of Captain L. George entered the home and performed a search and rescue operation. In a rear bedroom, they found and rescued a male victim who was transported to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, October 3, 2025, just before 6 p.m., the Shreveport Fire Department announced that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Department, and this victim marks the eighth fire-related death in the City of Shreveport this year.
