A fire was reported at the Shreveport Country Club at 3:45 pm on Saturday, October 4.
Large plumes of black smoke could be seen from multiple directions, drawing curious onlookers. Intense flames could be seen as fire crews approached the building from street level, and ashen debris flew around as they worked to contain the blaze.
Country Club Hills residents gathered outside the gates of the facility on Esplanade Ave. Many of them recalled fond times, events, and even celebrity sightings at the once-beloved community country club.
“As of recent in the last seven days we had vandals break in and were destorying all the interior of the building. We called the police, they came out with a couple of units and checked it out, didn’t find anybody, but this is unfortunately the product after that,” said Barbra Brice, Country Club Hill resident.
We will provide additional details as they become available from the Shreveport Fire Department.
