(KRON) — San Pablo police have arrested a man suspected of torching a car last month.

Police announced Thursday that Brett Allen Bisnett, 43, of Eureka, faces arson charges for the Sept. 18 incident.

Bisnett was taken into custody on Sept. 30 in Alameda County for charges tied to a separate case.

“We would like to thank our community for the outpouring of support in providing tips, being on the lookout, and for sharing the post!” said police in a social media post.

SPPD said officers responded at 4:17 a.m. to reports of a vehicle fire in the 13900 block of San Pablo Avenue.

“Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle parked within a carport, fully engulfed in flames,” said police.

The fire was quickly put out by the Contra Costa County Fire District. The car and an attached commercial building were both unoccupied during the incident, confirmed police.

The estimated value of damage to the vehicle was not disclosed.

“Based on information gathered from the scene, investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set to the vehicle by an unknown suspect,” said police.

The motive and circumstances behind the incident are not yet known.
