SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — Two crash victims were flown to the hospital by helicopter on Sunday, with one of them being flown to Lexington, according to Somerset fire crewmembers.

The Somerset Fire Department posted on Facebook that on Oct. 4, first responders went to the intersection of North US-27 and McKee Road for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

“On scene, crews provided patient care, blocked traffic, stabilized the vehicles, set up a landing zone, and cleaned the roadway of debris,” Somerset fire officials wrote.

Helicopter crews took one of the victims and flew them out of the scene directly. The other victim was taken by emergency personnel to a nearby helipad and flown to Lexington, per department staff.

An investigation into what caused the crash remains ongoing. Authorities have not released the conditions of either victim.
