It happened around 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 4, according to Kentucky State Police. Troopers with Post 11 in London were sent to US-25W North to reconstruct the deadly crash.
An initial investigation showed that a juvenile was driving south in a red Chevrolet Sonic when the car crossed the center line, side-swiping a Toyota RAV4 driven by Danny Burton, 68, of Lexington, who was heading north.
Burton allegedly kept going after being crashed into, before crossing the center line in his vehicle and crashing head-on into a white Chevrolet Tahoe operated by Starlin Shephard.
All three people were taken to Baptist Health in Corbin by emergency personnel, where Burton was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m. by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
Shephard and the juvenile were both treated with minor injuries and released from the hospital, per state police.
The deadly crash investigation remains ongoing.
