High Point High School lockdown lifted after shooting nearby

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A high school in Prince George’s County was briefly placed on lockdown after a shooting nearby on Friday afternoon, police said.

Around 2:10 p.m., officers were on the scene of a shooting in the 3400 block of Powder Mill Rd. in Beltsville. One victim is reportedly injured, but police haven’t released the severity.

High Point High School went on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, but the shooting did not happen at the school. The lockdown was lifted by 2:50 p.m.
