Arkansas College Football Preview: Week 6
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Though the new-look Arkansas Razorbacks won’t be playing this weekend, several colleges from the Natural State will still be in action.

From the Red Wolves and Golden Lions to the Bears, Bisons and Tigers, this is a look at all the action happening this weekend.  

Arkansas State vs. Texas State; 3 p.m.

At the end of the first quarter of Saturday’s game in Jonesboro, the Red Wolves will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1975 team’s undefeated season. A-State will also be looking to turn things around after losing four games in a row. Red Wolves quarterback Jaylen Raynor has thrown for 1,203 yards and six touchdowns this season while receiver Corey Rucker holds the program record with 3,269 receiving yards.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Texas Southern; 6 p.m.

The Golden Lions are looking to keep the positive momentum rolling after winning back-to-back games including a 24-20 victory over Alcorn State in Memphis last week. For his efforts, UAPB’s Christian Peters was named HBCU National Player of the Week after tallying 353 yards of total offense and a pair of touchdowns.

Central Arkansas vs. Utah Tech; 4 p.m.

After losing a close 35-32 contest against Lamar last weekend, the Bears are back on the stripes in Conway this weekend to host the Utah Tech Trailblazers. Both teams are hoping to get their first UAC win of the season in just their second-ever meeting. Austin Myers stepped under center for the Bears and threw for 358 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. UCA also got over 200 yards of offense from Landen Chambers while Malachi Henry added nine catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

Harding vs. East Central; 2 p.m.

The No. 2-ranked Bisons marched into last weekend’s contest against Ouachita Baptist and ran their way to a 24-7 victory, bringing home the Traveling Trophy. This week Harding takes on the 3-1 Tigers in a battle atop the GAC standings and a collision between the top two defenses in the conference. In last year’s meeting between the two programs, Andrew Miller and Braden Jay each rushed for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
