Stolen Porsche, motorbike, over one pound of meth and firearms discovered in SFPD investigation
On May 18, SFPD’s Richmond Station received reports of a stolen trailer containing $70,000 worth of equipment. The trailer was recovered on June 18 and officers had sufficient reason to arrest 61-year-old San Francisco resident John Choy, according to SFPD.
During the investigation, however, officers noticed discrepancies with Choy’s vehicles and their registration. SFPD served a search warrant on September 24 to a home on the 500 block on 32nd Avenue and located several parts of a stripped and stolen 1989 Yamaha FZR400 motorcycle, six handguns and five rifles, four of them being assault weapons.
During the search, more than one pound of methamphetamine and a classic 1979 Porsche 911 SC with a switched VIN was found after being reported stolen in San Francisco in 2021 with a swapped and stolen engine from another Porsche.
John Richard Choy was arrested for the following charges: felon in possession of a firearm (11 counts), possession of an assault weapon (5 counts), possession of a silencer (4 counts), possession of methamphetamine for sales, receiving a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property, and possession of burglary tools.
This remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
