BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — September 2025 in Southeast Louisiana brought a mix of late-summer heat and drier-than-normal conditions.
The average maximum temperature for the month reached 95 degrees, which is just one degree below the normal value of 96 degrees. This deviance indicated that while the region did not see as many extreme afternoon highs as in past Septembers, daytime heat remained consistent.

Meanwhile, the average minimum temperature came in at 62 degrees, slighter warmer than the normal for September of 58 degrees. This shows that overnight lows remained elevated, likely influenced by persistent humidity and fewer strong cold fronts pushing into the region early in the month.
Rainfall was on the lighter side compared to historical averages. The region only recorded 3.82 inches of precipitation, which falls almost an entire inch short of the normal September total of 4.6 inches. Widespread soaking rains were limited during September, and this total really depended on afternoon thunderstorms from the early days of the month. This leaves the region in a D0 and D1 drought heading into October.
