FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — Republican and Independent voter registrations continue to rise in Kentucky.

Secretary of State Michael Adams reported that voter registration increased in September, with Republicans registering the highest number of new voters.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

“After six months of Independents surging in voter registration, Republicans now show heightened interest in registration ahead of the May 2026 primary election,” Adams said.

In September, 3,976 voters were removed from the rolls, including 2,977 deceased individuals, 472 who moved out of state, 418 with felony convictions, 47 deemed mentally incompetent, 24 who voluntarily de-registered, 22 duplicate registrations, and 16 non-citizens.

Republicans now make up 48% of the electorate, with 1,590,260 registered voters—an increase of 4,636. Democratic registration stands at 41%, totaling 1,384,276 voters, a decrease of 3,354.

LATEST KENTUCKY LISTS AND RANKINGS:

Voters registered with other parties or as independents number 368,778, accounting for 11% of the electorate. This group grew by 2,372 voters, a 0.64% increase.
