Mugshot released of Napa County man charged with 6 murders
Norberto Celerino is accused of causing a horrific September 7 crash that left six minivan passengers dead on Pope Valley Road.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Celerino’s mugshot shows a large cut with stitches above his eye. The 53-year-old man is being held in jail without bail, inmate records show.
An U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson said Celerino, who also goes by the name Beto Cerillo-Bialva, had previously been deported to Mexico.
“Beto Cerillo-Bialva … is a criminal alien from Mexico who first entered the United States in 1995. Since his first illegal entry, he has been arrested several times for possession of cocaine, multiple DUIs, and removed multiple times from the United States,” the ICE spokesperson wrote.
Celerino did not have a driver’s license, officials said, and his criminal record includes DUI convictions in 2020 and 2010 in San Joaquin County.
The ICE spokesperson said the driver’s “disregard for the laws within the United States” and California’s sanctuary state policies led to the tragedy.
Following the Sept. 7 collision, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office filed 13 charges against Celerino: six counts of first-degree murder, six counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and DUI.
