Homicide investigation underway in Santa Rosa after fatal shooting

(KRON) — The Santa Rosa Police Department was investigating a homicide Friday morning after a man was shot to death. Police believe the victim to be in his 40s.

Officers were first alerted to the scene at 6:25 a.m. when a passerby called in reporting seeing a dead man in a bike lane.

The Santa Rosa Police Department said the Brookwood Avenue was closed between Birdsfoot Way and Bell Flower Lane as a result of the investigation. Police said there was no estimated time for reopening the roadway.

There is no known threat to the public related to the incident, police said.
