According to Belfry Volunteer Fire Chief Nee Jackson, the call came in just before 5 a.m. on Oct. 3 for a structure fire in the Aflex community of Pike County.
He said an abandoned structure was fully engulfed when crews arrived at the scene.
According to Jackson, an adjacent home that was under renovation also caught fire, and crews were able to bring the blaze under control. They also saved a third nearby structure.
Officials said the firefighter who was injured in the response was taken to get medical treatment and has since been released.
