Another college offers discounts to Pennsylvania state employees and family

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Many state employees and their families can get steep discounts on tuition at Pennsylvania colleges and universities.

The Commonwealth previously offered tuition benefits at six institutions. Now, a Penn State campus is joining the list for the first time.

State employees and their dependents can now get a 15% discount on tuition for all graduate programs at Penn State Harrisburg, Neil Weaver, the state announced Thursday.

Other colleges and universities offering tuition benefits are:
  • Elizabethtown College – 15% discount on undergraduate and graduate programs for state employees and their dependents
  • Peirce College – 25% discount on all undergraduate and graduate programs for state employees
  • Holy Family University – 25% tuition discount and application waivers for state employees and their spouses
  • Harrisburg University of Science and Technology – 25% tuition discount for on-campus graduate and certificate programs for state employees, 10% discount on tuition rate or training fee for on-campus graduate degree or certificate programs for the dependents of a state employee and 10% discount for undergraduate or graduate online programs for state employees and their dependents
  • Pennsylvania Western University (PennWest) Global Online – 20% discount on tuition for eligible state employees for online undergraduate, master’s and certificate degree programs
  • Central Penn College – one-time $1,000 scholarship over the first three academic terms for eligible state employees who enroll in a program and complete three terms of study

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency also offers an interest rate discount of .25% for state employees who are a borrower or co-signer on new PA Forward loans.

Education benefits for employees are provided at no cost to the state, the state said.
