Accused meth, marijuana dealer arrested in West Baton Rouge Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Port Allen man is behind bars after an investigation by the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division found evidence of drug distribution, Sheriff Jeff Bergeron said.

WBRSO said Garrett Taylor, 56, known by the nickname “Jamaica,” was the target of a weeks-long investigation. Undercover agents reportedly bought methamphetamine and marijuana from Taylor on multiple occasions.

Taylor was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 1, after deputies obtained an arrest warrant. WBRSO said a search of his home turned up more than 45 grams of methamphetamine, over 50 grams of marijuana, and more than 10 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.

He was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on several charges, including:

  • Three counts of distribution of marijuana (Schedule I)
  • Two counts of distribution of methamphetamine (Schedule II)
  • Possession of methamphetamine in excess of 28 grams
  • Possession of psilocybin mushrooms (Schedule I)
  • Simple possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Taylor’s bond has been set at $375,000. He remains in custody.
