According to the National Park Service, which runs the seashore, a house located at 23047 GA Kohler Court in Rodanthe collapsed shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.
Though the house was the ninth total in the area to fall in four days, it was the first in Rodanthe. On Tuesday, six houses in Buxton collapsed — five between 2 and 2:45 p.m., and one around 11 p.m. One house in that same part of Buxton fell Wednesday and another Thursday.
Friday’s house collapse was the first in Rodanthe since last year. A total of six homes fell along Cape Hatteras National Seashore in 2024 — all in Rodanthe — including three in the 23000 block of GA Kohler Court.
Many homes along the Outer Banks are vulnerable to damaging coastal waves, such as those that hit North Carolina’s coast this week as hurricanes Imelda and Humberto passed hundreds of miles off shore.
