2 injured in food truck explosion at Chatham County festival, fire marshal says

PITTSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A food truck explosion left two people injured at a Chatham County festival Thursday afternoon, fire officials said in a news release.

According to Fire Marshal Billy Judson, a propane tank gas leak caused a food truck to explode at the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival just after noon.

While the fire was isolated to the food truck, according to the fire marshal, two workers inside the truck were injured and taken to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill for treatment. Officials were unable to give an update on their condition.

Marshal Judson praised the festival staff for acting quickly to extinguish the fire and thanked other responding fire departments and personnel.

Chatham County officials said the festival will continue as planned.
